Hand Crafted Ceramic Surfaces

The splash of fins. The buzz of bees. The hum of dragonflies. Stand among ceramist Pat Warwick's art and you can almost hear the sounds of the natural world. Her work merges the imagination of an artist and the training of a designer with quality craftsmanship honed through 25 years of working with clay. Each design begins as a full size drawing rendered freehand. Once it has been transferred to the prepared clay, the tiles are cut. Then, using knives and modeling tools, Pat creates her intricately textured designs into the clay's surface, allowing many layers of glaze to be applied. Fine in detail and vibrant in color, it is the rich depth of these glazes that brings her images to life.
